Optimizing Vermicomposting of Country Organic Waste

Straws (wheat or corn), cattle manure and rubbish were used in anaerobic composting by adding EM solution, and made into eight groups with different composting proportions according to the dry weight ratio. The rubbish was consisted of vegetable leaves and paper according to dry weight ratio of 4:1. The best composting proportion of raising earthworm using composting production was investigated, by measurement of factors including temperature, pH value and C/N as well as the survival rate of earthworm. The results indicated that the temperature was basically maintained about 35.0. The inoculation EM solution increased ℃ the original pH value of composting materials from 6.0-7.5 to 8.3-8.5. The decrease extent of C/N value of corn straw composting was higher than wheat straw composting. The earthworm survival rate of corn straw composting production was also higher than wheat. The dry weight ratio of 1:3:1(cattle dung: corn straw: rubbish) had the highest earthworm survival rate 87.5%. The conditions suitable for raising earthworm were above 44d of composting days, around 28.0 of C/N value, 70.0%-80.0% of moisture content and around 8.0 of pH value.
