Excess Sludge Disintegration by Combined Ultrasonic and Mechanical Treatment
Investigation experiments were conducted to disintegrate excess sludge using a combination of these treatment methods. The results revealed that the optimal disintegration effect was obtained in response to 6 min ultrasonic treatment combined with 7 min mechanical treatment, with DDCOD and SCOD/ES values of 43.48% and 0.52, respectively. Under the same energy consumption conditions (ES=7053.3 kJ/kg劒TS and 7038.0 kJ/kg.TS), the disintegration rate DDCOD of the combined treatment method increased by 16.70% when compared to that of ultrasonic method alone. These findings indicated that a higher disintegration effect could be obtained by combined ultrasonic and mechanical treatment.
