Transportation and Transformation of Pollution Factors in the Sludge Reduction Process of Aerobic Digestion Systems

In this study, the influence of dissolved oxygen on the sludge aerobic digestion was investigated. The transportations and transformations of C, N, P, Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd were also studied during the digestion process. The results showed that when the dissolved oxygen reached 6.0 mg/L and 7.0 mg/L for 13 days, the degradation ratio of MLVSS was up to 41% and 44%, respectively. Besides, along with the OC, TN and TP in sludge decreased, the corresponding nutrients, especially N and P released and accumulated in the supernatant. The aerobic digestion could decrease the content of heavy metals in sludge, which was conducive to utilization of sludge.
