Preparation Process of Ultrofine Copper Powders from Electroplating Sludge 978-1-935068-68-6 . 2010 SciRes.
In this paper, the hydrothermal synthesis of compound ferrite and separated supernatant liquor from electroplating sludge were investigated at a temperature of 100℃ and with a reaction time of 60min. The compound ferrite was weakly agglomerated and equably distributed powders, and its leaching concentration of heavy metal was lower than the regulatory limit in the Toxic Characteristic Leach Procedure (TCLP) of the EPA. And over 75% of the copper was thus extracted from the sludge. The filtrate containing Cu2+was purified by alcohol, then micron copper was produced by pre-reduction of glucose and final reduction of hydrazine hydrate of fluid phase reduction. The result of XRD and SEM showed that pure (Cu%≥99.9 %) and the size of the copper powders about 0.5-1.0μm analogous ball. Therefore, this process is a feasible method with respect to the reuse and self-purification.
