Chemical Connection Induced Firing Pattern Transition in Coupled Chaotic Neuron System
The modulation of chemical connection on neuron firing pattern is investigated in a coupled Hindmarsh-Rose model with distributive delays. Simulation results show that chemical coupling not only can improve the spiking-bursting transition, but also may stabilize the coupling induced quiescent phase and induce oscillation death. Detailed characterizations of the transition are given. It reveals that the spiking-bursting transition helps to guarantee more reliable signal transmission and it is realized through “spike-adding mechanism.
