The Research on Positioning and Height Measurement of Suspended Drop Test Machine
The drop test machine is a equipment which verifies products performance to withstand theimpact of falling. At the present, the work patterns of this kind of test machine can be roughly divided intotwo types: The bracket-type: the test-piece rests on the holding rack, the drop height can be measured directlyby the height of bracket, such machine type is used generally by the drop test machine with a largest load of300Kg, And the suspended-type: by the hanging device, the specimen is hanged in the release device, theload is associated only with the release device. Drop height is defined as the nearest straight-line distancefrom the anvil surface to the bottom of the shape hanging, because the shape, size, and hanging state of thesample varies, the drop height is inconvenient for measurement, also a potential security risk exists possibly.This paper mainly discusses the suspended drop test machine, in this research, the programmable controller,computer, force sensors, and displacement sensor technology have been brought in. Through the data ofweight and displacement real time measured during the courses that the sample is lifted up (dropped down)and the processes that the sample is contacting onto (departed from) the anvil surface, which are analyzed bythe software analysis system for intelligently judging the starting point of drop height, we can achieve boththe accurate identification of drop height and location, but also solve the issues resulted from application ofthe suspended drop test machine to the drop height measurement and drop height positioning of a variety oftransport packages (such as: flexible freight bag type, barrel type and boxes type, etc.).
