A Study on the Relationship Between Folding Cartons Shaped Angle and Spatial Structure

Discusses the relationship between the folding cartons shaped angle and the panels folding angleafter forming, which is important to confirm the spatial position of the panels after forming. This lays a theoryfoundation to calculate the cartons volume, capacity and design the relative cushion structure. After foldedthe folding carton by the crease line, the three adjacent panels of the carton will build a spatial structure. Eachedge of two disjunct panels will coincide on one line. By calculate the coordinate of point A and A1,A2 whichare the corresponding points of A on the expanding panel, the folding angle will be gained. After Building theexpanding structure of the carton, set a 3D system of coordinate based on the crosspoint of the crease lines.Make use of homogeneous coordinates to indicate the spatial position of point A1 and A2 before forming.Then get the spatial coordinate of A1 and A2 after multiply a transforming matrix. The point A1 and A2 coincideon point A, then let the coordinate of A1 equal A2, the relation formula of the folding angle and theshaped angle can be gained. Based on the relation formula, the shaped angle can be corresponding got if thestructure of a formed-carton box is known, and this lays a theoretical foundation for the carton boxs design.
