Integrated Product and Package Development -for sustainable and cost effective solutions

The overall goal of this article is to: explain the importance of the integration concept for the concurrentdevelopment of product and package, including methods, techniques and tools to be used, in all of the(integrated) tasks performed within the integrated development process -this in close co-operation with themanufacturing industry.Resulting from the findings of the previous research projects, we have focused on theexisting development process:analyze the nature of the support needed by the product during its product life cycle to avoid structuraldamage to the product.perspective (e. g. with reference to protection, costs, weight, volume, environmental impact, etc.).in the design of the product and to facilitate the specification and generation of the packaging solution.By applying this approach, we are not only obtaining valuable information on how to perform individualactivities on the operational level, but also on how these activities should be integrated into the (existing)overall development process. Using these insights makes it also possible for us to further develop existingmethods, techniques and tools. The research approach is based on case studies. We actively participate intasks outlined above.
