Barriers to involvement in school physical education activities by girl students

The school curriculum aims to teach students knowledge in a variety of important academic subject. It concentrates not only on students academic achievements but on their social development and a promotion of healthy lifestyle. This view has been emphasized by UNESCO (1999) when they reinforced the importance of PE as a fundamental right for every child around the world. In this context, Ward, Saunders, Felton, Williams, Epping and Pate, (2006) commented that school physical education (PE) is a good opportunity for encouraging students male and female to participate in physical activities and make them part of their lifestyle, thus laying the foundations for lifelong participation in sporting activities and a healthier lifestyle.
