Diversity and conservation of forage germplasm resources in China
This paper summarized the diversity feature of forage germplasm resources in China. They were plenty of forage species, the large difference of species variety due to enviroment condition, the wide distribution of high quality forage, plenty of indigenous varieties, volume of rare and unique species, plenty of wild relatives of cultivating crops. Forage germplasm had been conserved in -situ and ex -situ conservation. 32319 accessions had been conserved in media -term or long -term gene bank, 588 accessions had been conserved in forage nursery, 482 accessions are conserved in vitro conservation bank. 13 national forage nurseries had been established. Wild forage germplasm conservation should be reinforced in the future.
