Variability of Gliadin Pattern in Wild Germplasm of Russian Wildrye
The acid polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (A-PAGE) was used to analyze the gliadin genetic variation among thirty -five wild Russian wildrye accessions collected from Xinjiang in China, Siberia region in Russia and Mongolia. A total of 37 bands were generated with 100% polymorphic percentage. The Dice genetic similarity coefficient of the accessions ranged from 0 -0. 8276 with a mean of 0. 4509. The result indicated that there was rich genetic polymorphism among the wild accessions. The 35 wild accessions can be divided into five groups. The accessions can be clustered with the same or similar eco -geographical origins. Results also showed some relations between the pattern of gliadin bands and geographical distribution. Genetic differentiation between and within groups was estimated by Shannons information index (H). The result showed H,=0. 5796 and Hgroup=0.4835, which indicated that 83.42% genetic variance existed within group, and 16. 58% genetic variance was among the groups. The result might be related to the cross -pollinated breeding system of Russian wildrye. Finally, the implications of present results for the conservation of Russian wildrye are discussed.
