SSR marker development and linkage map cons-truction in Zoysiagrass (Zoysia spp.)
The genus Zoysia belongs to the family Poaceae and the Order Poales in the Class Liliopsida in the Division Magnoliophyta. These species are native to southeastern and eastern Asia (north to China and Japan), Australia and New Zealand. It includes eight species, and these species commonly called zoysia or zoysiagrass, are found in coastal areas or grasslands. The eight species are;Z. japonica, Z. macrantha, Z. maaostachya, Z. tnatrella, Z. minima, Z. pauciflora, Z. sinica and Z. tenuifolia. Of them, Z. macrantha was only found in Australia (Loch et al. 2005) , Z. minima and Z. pauciflora were only found in New Zealand (Stewart 2005) , other five species usually occurs in East Asia, including China and Japan (Anderson 2000;Dong and Gong 2001).
