Precision Press Moulding of Micro Structured Glass Components
This paper deals with a precision grinding of micro structured molds and a precision press molding of micro structured surface such as a fresnel lens and miro lens array. The micro structured glass components are useful for the next generation type of optical devices because of its thin structure and excellent optical characteristics. A grinding system of 4-axis (X, Y, Z, C) control and a new grinding method were developed. In a feasibility study of the micro lens array grinding with the developed system, the molding dies of tungsten carbide for glass lenses were ground in trial. And micro glass lens arrays were glass-pressed with the ground WC die in trial. The grinding and molding results show that a form accuracy of about 0.1 μmP-V and surface roughness of about 10 nm Rz were obtained and this new grinding system and glass molding system are useful.
