Theoretical Analysis of Dynamic Change of the Workpiece in Micromilling with/without Ultrasonic Vibration

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of ultrasonic vibration on the dynamic change of small workpiece in cutting process when using feed direction ultrasonic vibration assisted micro end milling. Numerical analysis was first made to analyse the characteristics of main cutting force in milling operation with and without vibration respectively, a tool-workpiece vibration system model was then built, the normal direction dynamic displacements of the workpiece in conventional milling and in vibration milling were also calculated respectively. Theoretical analysis shows that micro milling with ultrasonic vibration in the feed direction will bring about intermittent micro-segmentation cutting in a milling cycle by matching rational parameters and lead to a pulse-like cutting force, which makes a great contribution to reducing the dynamic displacement of the workpiece.
