Design of a Carrier-free Impulse Proximity Fuze

A novel method for the design of a carrier-free pulse proximity fuze is presented. The pulse generator is preceded by a programmable pulse-position with Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD). Meantime, the CPLD also acts as synchronization control work. Integrating the modulator and synchronization control into a CPLD, the transmitters dimension can be depressed effectively. The output pulse approximates the Gaussian pulse having pulse duration of about 250ps and amplitude of about 2.5V. Proper modulation of the pulses in time is confirmed. And the echo wave which is received by an Archimedean spiral antenna is detected by an ultra-high-speed comparator of MAX9600.
