Miniaturized UWB filter using novel multiple-mode resonator

A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) band-pass filter with compact size and flat group delay is developed by using stub-loaded multiple-mode resonator (MMR) is presented. The proposed resonator consists of two parallel but oppositely arranged stub-loaded resonators, each one consists of two openended stubs in shunt. By properly adjusting the parameters of these stubs, four resonant modes can be allocated within the UWB band. In order to enhance the coupling degree, two quarter-wavelength parallel-coupled feed lines are both used in the input and output sides. Thus an ultra-wideband (UWB) band-pass filter with good insertion and return loss in the entire pass-band is realized. The minimum strip and gap widths of the filter are larger than 0.1mm. Therefore, the performance degradation caused by fabrication processing can be descent to the minimum.
