New Advance of Microstructure Engineering in Hot Steel Rolling:An Integrated Physically Based Modeling System with Good Extrapolation Capacity
The concept and advances of the microstructure engineering in hot steel rolling and its development, application and achievements in China and worldwide are introduced and reviewed. The deficits of existing modeling system for microstructure evolution and mechanical properties prediction in hot steel rolling are presented and discussed. A novel physical metallurgy based modeling system, which is formed with computational thermodynamics and kinetics sub-models, has been developed in order to widen the adaptability. The developed modeling system, which features with single model for different steel grades and single model for different rolling processes, has fairly good built-in interpolation and extrapolation capacities when the chelnical colnpositions and processing paralneters vary, and can be applied to various hot rolling production lines with relatively wide product mix.
