Role of Physical Models in River Development and Protection

摘要：

For a long time, physical model has been taken as an important measure to realize the target of river regulation and development. Based on a summary for the development history of physical models in China and a-broad, this article briefly discusses the role that physical model has been playing in construction of large hydraulic projects, river regulation, utilization and development, river outlet and seashore development, and addresses the critical simulation techniques to be further studied and solved, including distorted models, similarity of bed resistance, model sediment, model measuring techniques and so on.
