Application of Series Model Extrapolating Method in Research of Local Scour Around the Closure

The normal series model extension method aims to simulate the local scour around the buildings, and it is widely applied in the research of changes in local topography around the hydraulic structures such as spur dikes, bridge piers, and pile foundation. Based on the simulation of the whole scour morphology around the closure and the north dike in the closure process of the Qingcaosha Reservoir Project, the present study discusses the application of normal series model extrapolating method in the research of local scour in such a large-scale project. The results show that the method can be used to simulate the scope and depth of the local scour around the closure and to put forward effective protection measures for project design and construction.
