A Laboratory Study of Dynamic Responses of a Moored Rectangular Floating Breakwater to Regular Waves
Floating breakwaters allow water exchange between harbors and their surrounding coastal waters, and are good low cost alternatives for marinas and recreational harbors. This paper presents a new set of experimental data for wave transmission coefficients and response amplitude operators (heave, roll, and sway) for a 2-dimensional, rectangular floating-breakwater. An inertia measurement unit (IMU) was used to obtain accurate measurements of the breakwater responses to regular waves. The results are compared with some existing results for similar breakwater configurations.
