Discussion on Improving Measures for Navigation Flow Condition at the Entrance Area of the Approach Channel and Connecting Section in Low Head Dams
As to the ships, entrance areas and the connecting sections are accident-prone locations, so whether the ship is safe or not when it comes into the approach channel is not only a great concern to the shipping sector, but also a difficulty for navigation structure design of the hydropower project Thus far, in order to improve the navigation flow condition at the entrance area of ship-lock approach channel and connecting section, various measures have been proposed by many scholars from different countries. On the basis of physical model test and selfpropelled ship model test, this paper has an investigation about the influences on the flow condition, which brought by the structure of guiding wall, riverside shape, routing selection and the tail water of the hydropower station. According to the problems in the original design, we put forward many optimization measures, which not only creates a favorable navigation flow condition, but also provides a technical basis for the navigable structure design.
