Telecommuting: Implementation for Success
Telecommuting as an alternative to conventional arrangements by which employees perform their job functions has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. While such practice is rooted in the premise that telecommuting is beneficial to both the workers and the corporations alike, in a surprising number of instances it has failed to deliver its initial promises. Based on a synthesis of prior research and published industry best practices, this paper identifies and discusses a number of critical success factors that a company must consider when implementing a telecommuting program and expecting a reasonable chance of success.
