Hydrodynamic Effects on Microbial Growth:A case Study on Microcystis aeruginosa from Meiliang Lake
This paper proposed a hydrodynamic model for the Meiliang lake based on the Environmental Fluid Dynamical Code (EFDC). Considered the different speed of wind and the process of reservoirs operation, we have been analyzed the growth of microcystis aeruginosa. The results showed that : (1) when the wind speed is 3m/s, the velocity of water flow is more suitable for the growth of microcystis aeruginosa; (2) around the in/out flow (Zhihu port、Liangxi River、Wujin port) and the left-bottom of Meiliang Lake where microcystis aeruginosa may grow more exuberant, which is consistent with the actual situation. It, to a large extent, ensured the reliability of the prediction of “algae bloom in Meiliang Lake by the use of hydraulic engineering to control the velocity of flow field.
