Screening a novel high effective phenol degradation strain and its characters
A bacterial strain was obtained through the screeningexperiments of decomposition of phenol, which had highdegradability for phenol and was named P-1. The gene sequenceobtained from the DNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction(PCR) amplification was compared with NCBI Genbank ofU.S.A., and the strain was preliminary identified to beRhodococcus sp. The optimum growth conditions were pH 7.0, 30℃, 150r/min, 30-50mL/250mL (liquid volumes/flask volumes).When the phenol concentration was above 800mg/L, P-1s phenoldegradation ratio decreased with the increase of the phenolconcentration. The strain had strong adaptability to theenvironmental conditions, which showed it was a high effectivephenol degradation strain and had better application prospectsin wastewater treatment.
