Study on antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of exacts from Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb
Aim: To study the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity ofthe extracts from Chinese traditional medicine-Agrimonia PilosaLedeb. Method: The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) valueand minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) value of acetoneextracts and methanol extracts from Agrimonia Pilosa Ledeb againstbacteria , yeasts and fungi were tested by solid agar dilution method,for their antioxidant activity using scavenging activity of DPPH (1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl)radical method. Result: this study showedthat acetone extract from Agrimonia Pilosa Ledeb was found topossess better antimicrobial activities compared with methanol extract.The acetone extract includes many tannin components is possiblereason. In the DPPH system, the antioxidant activity of the acetoneextracts was superior to that of the methanol extracts, IC50 valueswere 48.41 and 55.69 μ g/mL, respectively. Such results might beattributed to the synergistic effects of the components.
