Anti-aging effects of betacyanins from Portulaca oleracea L.
Betacyanins from Portulaca oleracea markedlyreversed the D-gal induced learning and memoryimpairment by behavioral tests. The activities of SOD,CAT, GPx and GR in D-galactose -treated mice wereenhanced. Significant negative correlations were foundbetween the latency to find the platform of mice and theactivities of SOD, CAT GR and GPx in mice brain. Theseresults suggest the neuroprotective effect of betacyaninsagainst D-gal induced neurotoxicity might be caused, atleast in part, by the increase in the activities of antioxidantenzymes.
