The effect of microwave treatment on extraction content of wood
The effect of microwave treatment on the petroleumether extraction content of Masson pine wood was determined. The change in core temperature of samples treated in microwavefield was investigated. The results show that the content ofpetroleum ether extraction of Masson pine can be decreased by12.95-57.26% by the microwave treatment. The reduction inpetroleum ether extraction content (RC) of specimen increaseswith increasing in microwave radiation power and treatmenttime. The RC of specimens initially increases then decreases asthe initial moisture content changed from about 40-100%. Thewhole microwave treatment process can be divided into rapidwarming-up and constant temperature period, the overflowing ofresin onto the wood surface mainly occurs in the constanttemperature period. In microwave treatment, the RC ofspecimens may mainly be due to the resin within resin cavitiesoverflowing onto the wood surface.
