A novel skin-care product based on silk fibroin fabricated by electrospinning
A novel Vitamin C (VC) loaded silk fibroin (SF)nanofibers was fabricated by electrospinning with blendaqueous solution of the materials. The morphology ofelectrospun VC loaded SF (VC/SF) nanofibers wasobserved by scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and thecompositions of the composite nanofibers were inspectedby X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Thenanofibrous membrane was post-treated by methanolvapor, which rendered the nanofibers a good water-insolublecharacterization. After soaked into phosphatebuffered saline (PBS) for 4 days, the water-insolublenanofibers have swelled due to the absorbing of water. Theelectrospun SF nanofiber membrane could be a moreeffective vehicle to delivery the VC into skin tissue and thisnovel product of VC/SF composite nanofiber is expected tohave a good prospect of application on skin care, wounddressing and skin tissue engineering.
