Simulation of an Optimal Sinusoidal Airflow and Ventilator Settings for Mechanical Ventilation

To develop a simulation and control mechanismfor mechanical ventilator of respiratory therapy is aimed as thecontinuous mandatory ventilation mode is also objected forstudy. Based on the optimal chemical-mechanical respiratorycontrol model, sinusoidal waveform which is commonly utilizedin clinical applications of volume-targeted approach is modeledand optimized. To meet the needs for ventilation by consideringboth the chemical and mechanical cost, the effort of breathing forsimulated patient under mechanical ventilation is minimizedthrough the optimization tool. The experiments are performedand the resultant waveforms are examine under varioussimulations of muscular exercise, CO2 inhalation, and resistiveand elastic loading for simulate patient. The system is found toperform properly as the resultant ventilatory responses andoptimized waveforms are examined through an implementedMATLAB ? Graphic User Interface.
