A Novel High Resolution and Low Noise CMOS Vision Sensor for Portable Optical Analytical Lab-on-a-chip System

In this paper, the motivation is to integrated chemicaland biomedical separation, analysis and assay techniques into aPCB technology-based system with LED light source, smartCMOS vision sensor and lab-on-a-chip device. One highsensitivity low noise pinned-photodiode smart CMOS visionsensor is designed and fabricated in this paper. The measurementshows that the maximum sensitivity is about 0.95V/sec.lux. Thechip operates in the normal condition of 30fps@54M clock andits noise level is low to below the 0.8mV level due to the pinnedpixel technology, noise reduction circuit and design optimization.Based on the smart CMOS vision sensor, one PCB technology-basedoptical analytical system has been built up for lab-on-a-chip.This proposed printed circuit board (PCB) technologysystem has small size, low power consumption, low cost and realhand-held device and can avoid possible human errors withautomation and low labor.
