A new method of automatic recognition of B-mode ultrasound imaging of common carotid artery in longitude
Carotid sonography can be used toassess the extent and severity of atherosclerosis inpopulations. The common carotid artery (CCA)properties, such as the lumen diameter and wallthickness, can be measured non-invasively. Inreal-time processing systems of ultrasound imaging,the manual initialization procedure interferes with the difficult task of the sonographer to select. Inorder to eliminate user interference and toaccelerate processing of ultrasound imaging, wepresent a new algorithm for the automaticrecognition of B-mode ultrasound imaging ofcommon carotid artery in longitude. Thisalgorithm is fast and effective in recognitioncommon carotid artery. The experiment resultshowed that correct recognition rate of CCA ismore than 99% of 748 logarithmic compressedframes and 98% of 748 uncompressed frames.
