Match Filter design for Improved Strain Estimation in Transient Elastography
Ultrasonic transient elastography for tissuebiomechanical parameters (such as shear velocity)measurement has significant clinical applications. TheYoungs modulus, which represent the tissue stiffness, isa recognized indicator of many diseases such as liverfibrosis, breast cancer, can be directly calculated from the shear velocity. In order to estimate the shear velocityaccurately, transient elastography usually requires a highsignal to Noise ratio (SNR) in the region of interest(ROI). We designed a match filter to convolute with theestimated displacement in the time direction to boost theSNR of the displacement for a better strain imagemapping. The convoluted result shows the match filtercan significantly improve the strain image quality andhelp getting more accurate Youngs modulus estimation.
