The Application of Wavelet in Face Image Pre-processing

Facial feature recognition is an importantdirection field of pattern recognition, and is widely used inpractical applications. Due to the uncertainty of face recognitionby body posture, facial expressions and the environmentinfluenced, there are many difficulties in identifying. So beforethe human facial feature recognition, we need a series of imageprocessing, including filtering, compression, face location, andadjustment of the face pose. Wavelet Transform is the analyticaltools widely used in pattern recognition. In this paper we use theWavelet Transform and Wavelet Packet Analysis for human faceimage preprocessing, in order to facilitate the work of facerecognition.
