The influence of delayed coupling and noise on Ca2+ oscillatory signal
The influence of delayed coupling and noise is investigated in a calcium signaling system. Simulation results prove that noise can optimize the calcium signal by inducing coherence resonance (CR) and decrease its own destructive effect on the signal regularity. The delayed coupling can adjust these noise effects. If the noise is weak, the coupling may strengthen the signal with the change of coupling strength by a CR-like phenomenon. Under strong noise, its adverse effect on signal regularity may also be optimized by increase the coupling strength.
