Source apportionment of PAHs by FA/MLR in surface sediments of Jiaozhou Bay, China
Concentrations of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface sediments collected from the Jiaozhou Bay were measured by GC-FID. The results showed that the total concentrations of PAHs varied from 1242.2 to 29558.1 ng g -1 (average concentration was 5065.1 ng g -1), which indicated that the total PAHs concentrations were at moderate level compared to relevant areas worldwide. The proportion of 4~6 rings PAH was quite high. The diagnostic ratios qualitatively indicated the pyrolytic procedures were the main sources of PAHs. Factor analysis with multiple linear regressions (FA/MLR) was applied to apportion quantitatively sources of PAHs. Two factors were identified representing coal/biomass combustion and coke production/petroleum origin, respectively. The relative contributions of the two sources were 67.0% for coal/biomass combustion and 33.0% for coke production/petroleum.
