The acute toxicity of triazoles to earthworms using a simple paper contact method
The acute toxicity of triazoles to earthworms was studied in using a simple paper contact method proposed by OECD testing guideline no. 207. It was found the median lethal concentration (LC50) had no correlation with log Pow (1-octanol/water partition coefficient) of the chemicals. However, the toxicity of triazoles was different for earthworms and for fresh water organisms by comparing with other research. These results suggest the mechanism of toxicity was difference between the effects of pollutants on living things in different environments, fresh water and soil. Therefore, the toxicity could not be explained simply by log Pow alone, even though it is one of the most important parameters.
