Effects of gas flow velocity on electrical conductivity of three-phase fluidized-bed

Effects of gas flow velocity on electrical conductivity in three-phase fluidized bed (TPFB) have been determined in a 90-mm-diameter column by the conductivity probe method. The experiments were carried out with 5-6mm diameter glass beads (density of 426.6Kg.m -3), water and air as the liquid and gas phase respectively. Experimental studies have shown that in the radial direction, the more close to the center of TPFB, the lower electrical conductivity; in the axial direction, the greater distance from the gas distributor, and the more uniform distribution of electrical conductivity. Whether in the axial direction, or in radial, in addition to the uneven distribution region of bubbles, with the increase of gas flow rate, gas flow velocity increases, electrical conductivity decreases.
