Species Sensitive Distribution for Aquatic Biota Exposed to DDT
A species sensitivity distributions (SSD) for aquatic life exposed to DDT is developed using a logistic distribution based on the log-transformed L(E)C50 values of 98 aquatic species. The hazardous concentration for 5% of species (HC5) is derived based on the SSD. The HC5 for DDT is 0.5494 ?g/L. The potentially affected fraction (PAF) of species exposed to DDT in the surface water of the Pearl River Estuary in 1995 and 2008 are 0.36% and 0.06% respectively. The potential ecological risks still exist, but decline continuously.
