A novel microbial sensor immobilized Arxula adeninivorans for biochemical oxygen demand measure in high salt condition
A microbial sensor, based on an immobilized mixed the yeast Arxula adeninivorans with a Clark-type oxygen electrode, has been developed for the measurement of Biochemical Oxygen Demand(BOD) in high salt wastewater. Arxula is immobilized in the Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA). Arxula is salt tolerant, it can give a stable signal up to 100g/L NaCl in sample. The influence of pH, temperature and heavy metal ions was also discussed. It has a very high stability which can last for 50 days without any decrease in signal.
