Optimization on cleaning in line of hollow fiber membrane module
Based on submerged hollow fiber membrane module operation performance, backwashing pressure (BP) and backwashing flux (BF), the two key parameters of cleaning in line (CIL) operation, were analyzed in this work. The results demonstrated that the optimal CIL condition should made the backwashing solution cover the farthest hollow fiber end. Additional to that, when the module was installed higher than effluent point, it should keep the minimum BP higher than b/K’+H, on the contrary, it should keep the minimum BP higher than b/K’-H when the membrane module position was lower than effluent point. According to the backwashing filtration model of submerged hollow fiber membrane, one backwashing parameter ζ was put forward. When Q’/Pe<ζ, , backwashing solution could not distribute the whole membrane fiber surface, BP and BF should designed content with Q’/Pe>ζ. The numerical simulation of CIL operation showed that, if BP and BF were fixed respectively, the corresponding BP and BF have maximum value region, and the optimal BP and BF could be designed base on this region.
