Photocatalytic Degradation of Azo Dye Active Brilliant Red X-3B by Composite Materials of TiO2 and 13X Molecular Sieves
Titanium-doped 13X molecular sieves (Ti/13X) were successfully prepared by the impregnation method. The incorporation of Ti into the representative Ti/13X sample with a large number of wormhole-like channels was readily established by both X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and scanning electron microscopic (SEM) micrographs. The photocatalytic efficiency of various Ti/13X samples was then evaluated by their ability of removing a reactive dye X-3B from the artificial dye wastewater. Several major factors which might govern the photocatalytic reaction, such as the dosage of Ti/13X, reaction time, pH and concentration of X-3B were thus considered and checked. Finally, we found that the degradation reaction of Ti/13X with X-3B fitted well into the first-order kinetics.
