Investigation on high efficient catalyst for Catalytic wet oxidation technology

The Catalytic Wet Oxidation (CWO) method was investigated to treat wastewater from chemical container cleaning process, which contains various and high-strength pollutants. A heterogeneous catalyst was studied with Cu2+as the active component and activated carbon as the supporter. The effects of Cu2+concentration, calcination temperature and calcination time on the Cu-based catalyst performance were explored and optimal catalyst preparation recipe was optimized as 3h calcination at 300K with 6% Cu2+impregnation concentration. In addition, Ce doped Cu-based catalyst was also studied, which showed 6% Ce doping was the optimal Ce loading content. The catalysts with and without Ce doping were characterized by thermal analysis (TA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Catalyst life and metal leaching were investigated also. The results showed that Ce improved the activity and stability of catalysts. Besides, the amount of leaching Cu2+was less than 0.15mg/L, and the chemical oxygen demand (COD)removal was increased from 89.7% to 94.8%.
