Chrome Removal from the Water Sample by Macromolecule Heavy Metal Flocculant CSAX
The present paper deals with the efficiency of a novel macromolecule flocculant crosslinked starch-graftpolyacrylamide-co-sodium xanthate (CSAX) to remove Cr(VI) from water sample of a water plant. The results showed that the CSAX (1.0mg/L) is capable of removing up to 85.4% of Cr(VI) from water sample having low initial concentration (0.221mg/L) under the optimum conditions. The water treated satisfied the provisional guideline of 50μg/L for Cr(Ⅵ) in drinking water established by the World Health Organization (WHO).
