A method for extraction and separation of petroleum hydrocarbons (PHs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from heavy oil-polluted soil was developed. Effects of several factors such as ultrasonic power, temperature, and elution solvents on the extraction were investigated. The experimental results indicated the optimal experimental conditions were obtained as follow: 300 watt of ultrasonic power, 0 ℃ of extraction solvents, n-hexane and dichloromethane/nhexane (1:1, v/v) used as elution solvents. Finally, a real oilpolluted sample was employed to validate the developed method, and the test results showed that the method could separate the PHs from the PAHs and be applied to the real soil samples analysis.
