Research on Removal of Azo Dye Wastewater by Bioelectrochemical Technology
Azo dyes brilliant red X-3B wastewater simulated were treated by process containing bio-electrochemical hydrolysisacidification reactor(BEH) and biological contact oxidation process (BCO), and by process containing biological hydrolysisacidification reactor(BH) and zeolite MBR. The performance of aforementioned two processes was compared. The result indicated that the treatment effect by BEH for the wastewater better than by BH under micro DC field and AC one. In stability operation stage average removal rate of Brilliant red X-3B by BEH with DC of current density 0.071 mA per square centimeter was 85.99% and total one 96.03% by BEH-BCO. The rate by BH was 42.3% and the total one by BH-MBR was 84.84 % during the same period. The removal ratio of dye was improved greatly by increase of DC current density. The ammonia nitrogenous released in BEH was more than in BH, which indicated that hydrolysis reaction by BEH was more complete than by BH. However it needs to be confirmed that which electric field used in BEH is more efficient for dye removal, DC field or AC one.
