Response of flue-cured tobacco plants to different concentration of lead or cadmium

In this paper, flue-cured tobacco cultivar (Nicotiana tabacum L. K 326) was selected to explored responses of flue-cured tobacco plants to different concentration of lead (Pb) or cadmium (Cd). The plants were grown in nutrient solution in lab under the controlled condition. Research showed dry weights of each organ and whole plant and values of botany characters and Chlorophyll contents of upper leaf were all dropped slightly after Cd treatment. Cd contents of roots and stem and leaves changed around 100 mg.kg -1 , and it had a increasing tendency as Cd concentration increasing. Dry matter accumulation and values of botany characters and Chlorophyll contents were all higher than CK after Pb treatment. Pb contents of roots reached as high as 1452.8 mg.kg -1 , but contents of shoots were relatively few. And it had a increasing tendency as Pb concentration increasing. In a word, root of tobacco plant has a strong accumulating ability to Pb, and its growth did not be obviously suppressed.
