Experimental of Flocculation-sedimentation Aids in Drainage Treatment from Copper Election Process

At present, the neutralization and precipitation treatment is mostly applied in acid mine drainage treatment, which is widely used and with low running cost and so forth, but biggest problem is that the sediments float in the secondary settling tank and settle down difficultly, then the effluent always can’t comply with the wastewater discharge standard. The acid mine drainage samples were from a copper mine in China, the paper was about acid mine drainage treatment. The Zeta potential and particle sizes analysis were synthetically used in studying why flocculation-sedimentation aids could speed up flocs in acid mine drainage treatment. Experimental results shown that the pH was ajusted to 8.0, 0.8mg/L cationic polymer flocculant polyacrylamide(PAM) and 2.5g/L flocculationsedimentation aids, and flocculation and precipitation was improved effectively, precipitation rate was accelerated and incompact sediments disappeared. Alter treated, the concentration of metal ions and suspend solid(SS) in effluent could comply with the wastewater discharge standard.
