SYNTHESIS OF POLYMERS WITH CHANGEABLE CORE AND ARM NUMBERS
The major advantage of designing and developing polymers capable of responding to stimuli such as temperature and pH comes from their abilities to change chemical or physical properties as well as their architecture in a controlled fashion. With ruran-maleimide and maleimide-anthracene Diels-Alder (DA) reactions which have different stability to temperature, we have realized to change the core and arm number of polymers (Scheme 1).
