EFFECT OF UV/OZONE TREATMENT ON PERVAPORATION PERFORMANCE OF PDMS MEMBRANES IN SEPARATION OF ISOPROPANOL AND WATER MIXTURES
Effect of UV-ozone treatment on the performance of isopropanol dehydration by pervaporation through the PDMS membranes was investigated. X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) and water contact angle were used to characterize the chemical compositions and hydrophilicity of the surface layer of the modified PDMS membranes. It was found that the O/Si atomic ratio of PDMS surface layer increased with increasing UV-ozone treatment time, but C/Si atomic ratio decreased with treatment time. The formation of silica like surface layer improved the selectivity of PDMS membrane.
