STUDY ON ACCIDENT SEQUENCES OF SEISMIC PSA FOR BWR

The Examination Guide for Seismic Design of NPP was revised in 2006 in Japan. In response to the revised guide, utilities are required to establish the seismic design acceleration of the NPP site and evaluate the residual risk of individual NPP for earthquakes exceeding the seismic design acceleration. JNES is developing seismic PSA models of typical NPPs to support the regulatory review of utilitys residual risk evaluation report. Trial analysis of seismic PSA is performed for a typical BWR4 plant and a typical BWR5 plant. Dominant accident sequences and dominant initiating events are obtained, and sensitivity analysis is performed to evaluate the influence of analytical conditions on the core damage frequency (CDF) such as LOCA model and system mitigation effect. Analysis result shows that the CDF profile changes largely depending on the seismic intensity of the site.
